RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

PAAIS Research center

1. AEROBIOLOGY RESEARCH LAB
2. Pollen Research Center established with he collaboration of Allergy and Asthma Center Islamabad in 2015

We collect and purify pollen with following two methods with stringent methods of collection and purification and microscopical studies

  • Plants are collected according to season and placed on the large hanging aluminium trays where the sunlight falling from glass windows. When dry the flowers and catkins are put on the collecting trays and passed through different grades of sieves with shaker.
  • We have developed special turff of steel where branches with flowers of allergenic plants are put and the branch lower part is dipped in fresh water and upper part drooping out so that pollens fall on the filter paper around the turf. These are covered with plexiglass hood and exposed to lights led light (460 and 660 nm wave lengths). The pollen is collected on the white filter paper around the turf

CANNABIS Pollens in FALL and PAPER MULBERRY POLLENS in SPRING are causing severe allergic diseases in Islamabad. The Pollen count ins sprint rise to more than 35000 pollens per day or 1500 pollens per cubic meter per hour.
PAAIS with the collaboration of Allergy and Asthma Centre developed POLLEN RESEARCH CENTER. Where the branches are collected early morning with special devices. Pollens are collected by drying and developed special turf of steel having water Special turf for collection of Pollens. Branches with flowers or catkins are placed in turf of water and the upper parts of the branches are hanging or drooping out. These are exposed for some days to special lights which are helpful for dehiscence or release of pollens. These pollens fall on the glazed paper put below the turf.

3. House dust mite Research Center: -

House dust mite research centre was established in 2017 but in spite of efforts we could not culture the house dust mites. The Dr.Shahid Abbas had training in 2019 with Prof Anchalee and Prof Natt in Mahidol University Hospital, Department of Entomology, Bangkok and then imported special Humidifying Incubator and equipment and started culturing the House Dust Mite. Now we have some successes and we also have opened for training of doctors in house dust mite allergy

HOUSE DUST MITE Research Lab

After identification house dust mites are cultured in humidifying incubator and observed frequently. Finally, the house dust mite colonies are separated and frozen for further research on house dust mite allergies
